This course deals with the basics of 3D animation starting with basic keyframe animation and reaching the depths of expression based automation and the principles of character animation.
We will be also dealing with the theory that goes along with digital animation, such as dealing with animation curves and non linear animation techniques.
The course will focus on Maya 2010 but similar rules and concepts can be applied to any other 3D Software.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Maya or any other kind of 3D application
Basic 3d modeling skills
Course Aims
principles of any kind of 3d animation techniques
basics of a node based automate workflow
rigging a character
animation based on hierarchy and constraints
non linear animation
Course Topics
Week01: - animation "interface" and keyframe animation, node workflow in Maya
week02: - hierarchy and constraints, deformers and point animation
week03: - character rigging and animation
week04: - non linear animation and basics of dynamic simulations
Course Outcomes
On successful completion of the course you will:
be familiar with any kind of 3d animation techniques
be able to create complex animations mixing all the topics covered in the course
apply 3d animation concepts to any other kind of digital animation (2d animation, motion graphics, compositing)
applied character animation skills to the creation of assets for videogames
