Course Description
This course is about the popular Apple application for recording and producing music. You will be guided step-by-step into a process where you find yoursef being a music producer, through the powerful recording, editing, and mixing functions of Logic Pro and Logic Express.
Course Prerequisites
Basic Mac OSX knowledge and fundamentals of music theory are required. Basic knowledge of MIDI protocol is advisable, albeit not strictly necessary. Basic knowledge of audio routing and audio processors is advisable.
Course Aims
- Accomplish audio and MIDI recording tasks.
- Refine your recordings through the powerful audio and MIDI editing windows.
- Mix your tracks through Logic's internal mixer and its countless audio processors.

- Logic user interface: the Arrange window and the Mixer window
- Recording and editing audio with Logic
- Recording and editing MIDI with Logic: the Piano Roll window
- Mixing your audio and MIDI tracks, adding effects through Logic internal Mixer
Course Outcomes
- Produce a song from the very beginning
- Record your own tracks (vocals, guitar, keyboards, etc.)
- Take advantage of the powerful Logic virtual Instruments
Required Resources
- Mac computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 processor (PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo or Intel Xeon processor highly recommended)
- 1GB of RAM (2GB or more highly recommended)
- Display with 1024-by-768 resolution (1280-by-800 or higher recommended)
- Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later
- QuickTime 7.2 or later DVD drive for installation
- PCI Express, ExpressCard/34, USB or FireWire based audio interface recommended for audio recording tasks
- MIDI keyboard and/or controller for MIDI recording tasks
