Nicolas is a Learning Advisor
Nicolas (a.k.a. NIXT) was born in Paris, France in 1976.
He started making music when he was 7 years old. He began with piano. First, he played classical and then he played jazz piano for a few years. When he was 15 years old, he discovered the drums. He started playing drums in several bands of different styles of music. In 1994, he was inspired to learn how to use samplers and midi sequencers synchronized with multitrack tape recorders. Eventually he built his first home studio which evolved rapidly with the new possibilities offered by computers at that time.
He followed musical training thoroughly from various conservatoires and then to the University of Musicology in Evry, near Paris, France. A professional studio in Paris acknowledged his capabilities and decided to hire him. This studio also payed for a professional course in sound engineering in order for him to complete his knowledge in sound techniques.
He then worked on many different projects : musical albums and a lot of post production for cinema and TV. In 2005 he moved to Geneva, Switzerland where he started working in another studio. In 10 years, Nicolas has mixed around 50 short movies, worked as a sound editor or mixer on 7 full length movies, mixed more than 300 episodes of TV series and a huge number of other works including documentaries and commercials for TV as well as cinema.
He has composed many musical tracks for commercials, jingles and TV shows.
He also has produced 18 vinyl records in techno music and he continues to produce techno music under the name "Nixt" and plays live (with Ableton Live) in techno parties all over europe.
When he's not working in the studio, Nicolas teaches surround mixing and TV production at the SAE of Geneva.
