About Ron

Country: U.S.

Ron is a Learning Advisor

Ron is a writer in California specializing in Humanist topics. He writes a column for a local newspaper, reviews music, studios, and exposes psuedo-science hoaxes as a skepticist.

Ron grew up in a musical family and began singing at the age of 6. Throughout his youth, his sole interest was music, and beginning at age 10 embarked on an orchestral performance journey that continued until a few years ago.

Music took on an added dimension when Ron held a guitar after watching The Beatles in 1964, and at age 12 secured his first paying gig and never stopped or considered any other career. He played in numerous ensembles and rock bands throughout California, and regularly did studio sessions as a guitarist and vocalist. It was during session work that the recording industry began looking very interesting to him.

His recording experience began with two reel-to-reel stereo (two-track)tape decks, and progressed with the technology. Ron is one of the lucky engineers who remembers editing tape with a razor blade, and became proficient at tracking, editing, and mixing using tape. He eventually opened his own project studio and has studied with professional producers and engineers.

Ron has embraced digital recording slowly and still feels that unless one understands the basics of audio, they are missing important factions of recording. He currently records with a hybrid of tape/digital media and hates pitch correction software. His mantra is: If you aren't getting it right, go home and practice the part. He brings old school sensibilities to his trade, and specializes in recording singer/songwriters for their intimate communicative skills. Ron credits his University music training and theoretical studies to be the biggest assett to assist artists reach their musical goals. He is a member of several organizations, but considers AES to be the organization of highest merit.

Ron studied Music Composition/Theory for 5 years, and also studied classical piano, cello, and voice with nationally recognized artists from San Francisco; he graduated with a view to teaching music. During that time, Ron studied Linguistics, Semantics, and Psychology at University and graduated with honors. He has taught music, music theory, composition, and English composition at all levels and considers academia priceless. Ron believes the written language is crucial to human communication, and that music is the "unwritten" language that all humanity understands.

Ron lives in the Central Valley of California and loves to travel. Kona, Hawaii and the U.K. are his favourite destinations in the world. He is married with four adult children, 4 cats, one dog, and a killer mic cabinet. His other passion is writing as an op/ed and commentary journalist. He makes it abundantly clear that he is not a reporter.

He enjoys teaching and embraces the philosophy of SAEOnline for its student driven ideology, and has first-hand knowledge of distance learning through several educational outlets in the United States and England. Ron chose SAEOnline after months of research and investigation. He is a Learning Advisor because he loves sharing information, and enjoys assisting students in their quest for knowledge.
